Arc faults, ground faults, offline modules and grid trips. A plain-language guide to what your monitoring is telling you and when to call someone.
Monitoring is only useful if you know which alerts matter. Here's the short version.
Offline / no data
Usually a communications problem — the gateway lost Wi-Fi or the router changed. The system is often still producing. Reconnect the gateway before assuming anything is broken. If it persists past a day, call.
A single module reporting zero
Could be shade, debris, a failed optimiser or a bad connector. If it's the same module at the same time each day, it's shade. If it's constant, it's hardware. Not urgent, but it should be scheduled.
Ground fault
The system detected current leaking to ground. It shuts down on purpose. This is a call today item — moisture ingress and rodent damage both cause it, and it does not fix itself.
Arc fault
The inverter detected an arcing signature and stopped. Also call today. Do not repeatedly reset it to keep production up; the detection exists for fire safety.
Grid trip / voltage out of range
The inverter disconnected because grid voltage or frequency left its allowed window. Common after utility work or a storm, and it usually self-clears. If it repeats daily, the utility service voltage may need checking.
