Load profile, not monthly totals
A warehouse that runs one shift and a restaurant that peaks at dinner have different solar cases even at identical monthly kWh. Where possible we work from interval data so the array is designed against when you actually use power.
Demand charges
Many commercial rate schedules bill on peak demand as well as consumption. Solar reduces consumption reliably and reduces demand only when production coincides with your peak — which is exactly why storage sometimes belongs in a commercial design.
Roof structure and remaining life
Commercial roofs carry the same trap as residential, at larger scale. Membrane age, deck condition, and structural capacity all get evaluated before a mounting plan is drawn. Putting an array over a roof due for replacement is an expensive mistake at this size.
Available area and obstructions
Rooftop units, skylights, vents, and required walkways consume usable area quickly. The number that matters is the clear, unshaded, structurally sound area — not the square footage of the building.
Electrical service and interconnection tier
Commercial interconnection runs in different utility tiers than residential, with more review and sometimes additional study. The service equipment, switchgear, and point of connection all shape both cost and schedule.
Financing structure
Cash, lease, and prepaid lease options are structured differently for a business than for a household, and the right one depends on your balance sheet and how long you hold the property. We show the options rather than steering to one.

How much does commercial solar cost in Florida?
It scales with system size and site conditions, and per-watt pricing generally improves as arrays get larger because fixed costs spread further. The honest answer for your building comes after a structural look at the roof, a review of the service, and twelve months of utility data.
Is commercial solar worth it for a Florida business?
It depends heavily on your rate schedule and load profile. Businesses with strong daytime consumption and demand-billed rates tend to have the better case. We model it against your actual data and tell you if it does not pencil.
What are demand charges and does solar reduce them?
Demand charges bill you on your highest short-interval draw during the period, separate from total consumption. Solar reduces them only when production overlaps your peak, which is why some commercial designs pair the array with storage to shave that peak deliberately.
Does my commercial roof need to be replaced first?
If the membrane or deck is near end of life, yes — the same logic as residential, with larger removal costs later. We evaluate roof condition before designing a mounting plan and price the two paths honestly.
How long does a commercial solar project take?
Longer than residential, because the engineering, utility interconnection tier, and inspection scope are all larger. We give a stage-by-stage schedule for your jurisdiction and utility rather than a single number.
Can I finance commercial solar?
Yes. We work with lease and prepaid lease structures alongside cash pricing, and the right structure depends on your ownership horizon and balance sheet preferences. All options get shown side by side.
Do you install ground-mount systems?
Where a property has suitable open land and the structural and electrical path makes sense, ground mount is a legitimate option and sometimes the better one when roof area or roof age is the constraint.
Can you add storage to a commercial system?
Yes, and on demand-billed accounts it is often the piece that makes the economics work. Storage sized for peak shaving is a different design exercise than backup, and we scope which of the two you are actually buying.
What happens to the array if I sell the building?
Owned systems convey with the property and are generally a straightforward part of the transaction. Leased systems require an assignment step. If a sale is likely inside your horizon, tell us early and we will steer the structure accordingly.
Do you handle the commercial electrical work too?
Yes. Origin is a licensed Florida electrical contractor, EC13012465, and commercial electrical is one of our service lines. Switchgear work and the interconnection scope stay with us rather than being subcontracted out of sight.
Which areas do you serve for commercial projects?
We work across Central Florida from our Tampa base, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, and surrounding counties. We do not work the Miami market.
Can you also handle the roof?
