Production guarantees and other Tampa solar quote fine print

A big production number on page one means nothing if page four defines it away. The clauses to read before signing a Tampa solar contract.

Solar contracts are long and the important parts are never on page one.

Production estimates

Ask what software produced the number, what shade data went into it, and whether the estimate is a guarantee or an estimate. Most are estimates — that's fine and normal. What's not fine is a salesperson presenting an estimate as a guarantee. Origin does not offer 25-year production guarantees, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does without explaining exactly how it's measured and remedied.

Escalators

On a lease, the annual escalator compounds. A payment that looks good in year one can look very different in year fifteen. Ask for the full payment schedule in dollars, not a percentage.

Change orders

What triggers one, and at what price? Common triggers: structural reinforcement, a service upgrade, unexpected decking condition. Getting these priced up front — even as a range — prevents surprise.

Timelines and remedies

A date with no consequence isn't a commitment. Look for what happens if permitting or installation runs long.

Warranty scope

Product, workmanship and labor are three different things with three different lengths. A 25-year module warranty with a 1-year labor warranty means you pay someone to swap a free panel in year six.

Who is actually doing the work

Ask whether the company holds the license and self-performs, or subcontracts. Both can be fine; not knowing is not.
