What net metering does

Read your statement top to bottom before judging the system: consumption, credits applied, credits banked, and fixed charges are separate lines. Judge performance annually, not monthly. A single cloudy month tells you about weather, not about your array.

What storage changes

A battery does not create net-metering credits; it shifts when you use your own generation. Its value in St. Pete is mostly resilience — keeping the house alive through a multi-day outage — with bill management as a secondary benefit depending on your rate structure.

Interconnection reality

Permission to operate comes after permitting, installation, inspection and Duke's own process. Your array does not legally run before that. Budget weeks, and be suspicious of anyone promising a specific date for a utility step they do not control.
