$0-down solar in Tampa: what "no money down" actually means

Almost every lease, prepaid lease and PPA program we place can be structured with nothing due at signing. That is genuine. It is also frequently misunderstood.

What $0 down means

No cash from you at contract or at install. The financier funds the equipment and installation. You begin paying once the system is granted permission to operate by the utility, not on the day the crew leaves.

What it does not mean

It does not mean free, and it does not mean the payment cannot exceed your current bill. Whether it beats your bill depends on your usage, your roof, your shading and your rate. A quote that cannot show you the arithmetic on those four inputs is a sales pitch, not a proposal.

Where extra cost sneaks in

• A roof that needs replacement first, which is separate scope
• A service panel that cannot accept the interconnection and needs an upgrade
• Tree work required for a viable production estimate
• Escalators that raise the payment every year

Good questions for a $0-down offer

Ask for the total amount payable across the full term. Ask what happens if you sell. Ask whether the payment escalates. Ask whether the estimate assumes tree removal you have not agreed to. Any reputable Tampa contractor answers all four without flinching.
