What makes a solar company worth hiring in Tampa — and how Origin is built
In-house crews, one license covering roof and electrical, and a finance stack deep enough to find an approval. Here is how Origin is structured and why it matters on your job.
Every solar company in Tampa says the same three things in the first five minutes. Here are the structural questions that actually predict how your project goes, and where Origin sits on each.
Does the company self-perform?
Origin runs its own solar, roofing and electrical crews out of Tampa under Florida electrical contractor license EC13012465. When the same company owns the roof, the array and the service panel, there is nobody to hand the problem to. Ask any contractor plainly: who is physically on my roof, and are they your employees? Subcontracting is not automatically bad — not knowing the answer is.
Is the roof in scope?
Most Tampa homes past their fifteenth year need a roof conversation before an array goes up. Split that across two companies and you inherit the argument: the roofer will not warranty penetrations they did not flash, the solar company will not touch decking they did not install. Packaging roof and solar under one contractor removes that seam — and usually removes a detach-and-reset bill five years out.
Who owns permitting and interconnection?
Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco each run their own review queues, and TECO and Duke each run their own interconnection process. A company that hands you the application to file is telling you something. Origin owns the permit, the utility application, the inspections and permission to operate.
How many finance products can they place?
This is the one homeowners underweight. A company with one lender has one answer. Origin places deals with EnFin, LightReach, Skylight, Sungage, Credit Human, Participate and Sunchek — leases, prepaid leases, PPAs, credit-union lending and standard solar loans. More products means more of the market finds a payment that beats their current bill.
What we do not claim
No production guarantees. No invented install counts. No stock-photo job sites presented as our work. Savings depend on your roof, your usage and your utility rate, and approvals come from the lender, not from us. If your roof or your shade does not support a good outcome, we would rather say so at the kitchen table.
