KUA net-metering application: active permit and signature checkpoints

KUA’s application page identifies an issued permit status and homeowner signatures on specific pages. Verify these administrative details before submission.

THE SHORT ANSWER

KUA’s current application instructions say an issued permit or Notice of Commencement status is needed for submission and identify homeowner signatures on pages 3, 13 and 19. [1]

Confirm the permit status, not just a number

Ask for the permitting jurisdiction, permit number and a screenshot or document showing the current issued status. A draft application or payment receipt is not the same milestone. Match the permitted address and contractor to the solar documents before treating this checkpoint as complete.

Review before signing

The named pages should be read in context, including the obligations and system description surrounding each signature. Do not sign blank fields or rely on a separate verbal summary. Keep the exact version you signed, because a later replacement page can otherwise separate the signature from the terms reviewed.

Check the customer of record

The signer should match the KUA account and the role required by the form. A spouse, property manager or salesperson may know the project well without being the customer named by KUA. Resolve any trust, entity or ownership issue with KUA before the packet is presented as final.

Control revisions after signature

If capacity, ownership or equipment changes, compare the revised pages with the signed packet and ask which signatures must be refreshed. A single changed number can affect the applicable tier or agreement. Date filenames and keep only one clearly labeled submission set.

Make the status visible to everyone

Put the permit evidence, signature checklist, submission date and KUA response in one project log shared with the homeowner. This turns a vague delay into a specific next action and reduces the chance that the contractor and utility are each waiting for a record held by the other.

Before your next conversation

  • Verify the issued permit or required status.
  • Read and sign the identified pages.
  • Confirm the signer matches the KUA customer.
  • Archive the exact submitted version.
