Define “final” for the permit
Obtain the final inspection result or permit closeout from the actual jurisdiction. An installer’s completed-work photo or passed rough inspection is not the same record. KUA’s agreement also requires inspection and approval before parallel operation. [2] Match the address, permit number and approved equipment scope to the utility application.
Confirm application approval separately
Ask for KUA’s approval or status reference rather than assuming a passed inspection completed utility review. A utility correction can remain open after local inspection. Conversely, an approved application does not prove the jurisdiction has closed the permit.
Schedule meter work from evidence
Record when KUA received the final permit and what the utility says happens next. Avoid promising a meter date before KUA confirms it. If access, labeling or equipment location must be corrected, preserve the exact request and photograph the resolution safely.
Do not confuse installation with PTO
Panels and an inverter on the house do not create permission to operate in parallel. Follow the installed labeling, contractor handoff and KUA authorization. Do not switch equipment based on a sales text or an app invitation that arrived before the utility step.
Build the closeout file
Keep the application approval, signed agreements, final permit, meter confirmation, one-line and homeowner monitoring access together. If the original contractor later closes, the next service provider can verify the approved baseline without rebuilding the entire timeline.
