An expansion can change capacity, protection, equipment records, permits and utility review. Evaluate the existing and proposed equipment together.
Reconstruct the existing approval
Find the original capacity, equipment schedule, one-line, permit closeout and utility authorization. If records are missing, document the installed equipment and ask the relevant authorities what must be recreated.
Calculate the combined design
Show existing and added modules, inverter limits, service connection, disconnects and battery equipment on one updated drawing. A proposal that lists only the new panels hides the project’s actual interconnected capacity.
Check physical constraints
Review roof condition, attachment zones, shade, pathways, conductor capacity and service equipment. More available roof area does not establish electrical or utility feasibility.
Submit before field assumptions harden
Ask Duke and the permitting jurisdiction about the current change process before ordering equipment or scheduling work. Keep written decisions with the revised proposal and final as-built file.
