THE SHORT ANSWER
Utility review depends on the project that is actually proposed. The model numbers, quantities and ratings on Duke-facing records should describe the same design.
Inventory every component
List module manufacturer and model, quantity, inverter or microinverter model, storage equipment, disconnects and relevant ratings. Copy identifiers from current data sheets rather than a sales nickname.
Trace the electrical path
Follow the one-line from generation through conversion, protection and the service connection. Each listed component should appear where expected, with ratings that can be reconciled to the schedule.
Control substitutions
If equipment changes after submission, identify exactly what changed and ask whether Duke, the permitting authority or both require revised documents. “Equivalent” marketing language is not a documented engineering or utility determination.
Archive the approved version
Mark superseded files clearly and retain the final accepted schedule with the as-built drawing. That record helps later service providers distinguish original equipment from a replacement or field change.
Before your next conversation
- Record exact model numbers.
- Compare quantities and ratings.
- Document every substitution.
- Keep the final accepted version.
