THE SHORT ANSWER
A storm-ready record should identify the WREC account, system equipment, shutdown instructions and support contacts without requiring unsafe roof access.
Save utility information offline
Keep WREC outage channels, member and service identifiers, permit and interconnection records in a protected offline location. Do not publish full account information.
Inventory the system safely
Record accessible inverter, battery, gateway and disconnect models and serials. Use prior installation photos for roof equipment rather than climbing before a storm.
Preserve a baseline
Export recent production and monitoring status, photograph ground-accessible equipment and note existing alerts or roof issues. This helps distinguish pre-existing conditions from storm effects.
Follow supported procedures
Use WREC, manufacturer and qualified installer directions for outage and shutdown behavior. DOE recommends planned pre- and post-storm measures rather than improvising around energized equipment. [2]
Before your next conversation
- Save WREC contacts offline.
- Inventory accessible equipment.
