Save official outage channels
Set up WREC alerts and keep the cooperative’s current outage reporting options accessible. Do not rely on an inverter app to report a utility outage.
Respect anti-islanding
Do not bypass shutdown, disconnects or inverter protection to force solar operation. Those controls help keep utility lines and workers safe.
Inventory backup equipment
Record batteries, gateways, transfer devices, generators and backed-up circuits. A panel array or battery icon does not prove every household load is supported.
Plan household priorities
List refrigeration, communications, medical needs, wells and cooling with starting and running demand. Keep manufacturer shutdown and service instructions available offline.
