Understand where each proposal comes from

Give both providers the same home record

Share twelve months of kWh usage, your actual utility, roof material and age, shade concerns and plans that could change electricity use. Compare the proposed annual production against the same household baseline. Ask how each provider assessed roof condition and usable planes. If one proposal includes storage and the other does not, split that difference out before comparing total prices. A useful record has a column for an unanswered question instead of treating an early estimate as a completed design. Final site and equipment conditions still need verification.

Make group pricing and direct pricing comparable

For each offer, list installed system capacity, panels, inverter, mounting, monitoring, electrical changes and any roofing work. Record total installed price and exclusions before examining the payment. Then add the applicable payment documents, scheduled changes and continuing obligations. Identify the responsible company at every stage

Use a task list for engineering, permit submission, installation, inspection, utility coordination, monitoring setup and service. The city’s permitting resources are a starting point for work inside its jurisdiction, not a substitute for assigning each responsibility in your agreement. [2] Ask whether the company selling the offer performs the work or coordinates other parties, and who handles a correction. Review equipment warranties separately from workmanship coverage. Find a contact you can use after installation without depending on the availability of the original salesperson.

Resolve the gaps before making your decision

Circle differences that cannot yet be priced fairly: a roof repair, a service upgrade, a storage configuration or a missing approval task. Request written clarification and compare the revised offers on the same basis. Include the estimated remaining utility bill beside any solar payment, with the assumptions identified. You may value a clearer handoff or a defined service responsibility even when two prices are similar.
