THE SHORT ANSWER
When registration cannot be found, ask the actual warrantor what proof and procedure apply. Do not promise coverage or denial from the missing portal record alone.
Identify each warrantor
Modules, inverter, battery, racking and installer workmanship can have separate documents and administrators. Create a list by model and serial. Do not contact one manufacturer and treat its answer as the status of every warranty layer.
Build purchase and installation evidence
Gather signed contract, paid invoice, permit, utility approval, installation photographs and commissioning date. If the home changed owners, include deed or closing evidence. Keep personal financial information limited to what the verified warrantor actually requests.
Read the written terms
FTC guidance explains that warranty duties, coverage and remedies come from the written terms. [1] Locate registration language, transfer provisions and claim procedure for the product version. Avoid relying on a current marketing page for equipment installed years earlier.
Contact verified support
Use the manufacturer website or number printed in official documentation, not an unverified search advertisement. Obtain a case number and written list of missing evidence. A service provider can document equipment but cannot create manufacturer registration retroactively without authorization.
Preserve the determination
Save confirmation of registration, transfer, alternative proof or denial and the stated reason. Update the homeowner file and monitoring contact. If field diagnosis is required, define who pays before scheduling and do not imply that diagnosis guarantees a covered remedy.
Before your next conversation
