SECO solar inverter replacement: update the interconnection record

Evaluate ratings, certifications, monitoring and approvals when repairing an existing member-owned generation system.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Replacing an inverter may change the system described in SECO and permit records. Diagnose first, compare specifications and confirm the change path before installation.

Preserve the failure evidence

Save alert codes, dates, monitoring exports, manufacturer case numbers and qualified diagnostic findings. An offline portal can result from communications trouble rather than an inverter failure.

Build an equivalency review

Compare old and proposed models for AC output, DC input, rapid shutdown, protection, storage compatibility, communications and environmental ratings. Record any array or service changes required.

Confirm documentation needs

Ask the contractor, permitting authority and SECO which current records or approvals apply. Keep written responses and revised drawings where required.

Complete the owner handoff

Verify normal operation, monitoring control, labels, shutdown instructions and warranty registration. Add the new serial, commissioning date and removed-equipment disposition to the system history.

Before your next conversation

  • Document the diagnosis.
  • Compare complete specifications.
  • Confirm approval requirements.
  • Update the owner inventory.
