LCEC’s current form lists a $35 Tier 1 fee, $300 Tier 2 fee and $1,000 Tier 3 fee, plus minimum liability coverage of $1 million for Tier 2 and $2 million for Tier 3. [1]
Confirm the tier with utility arithmetic
Use LCEC’s gross-power-rating method and the final equipment schedule. Do not rely on a rounded “10 kW system” label. A proposal near a threshold needs a visible calculation before the fee or insurance line is treated as settled.
Ask the insurer, not the salesperson
Provide the LCEC requirement and service address to a licensed insurance professional. Request the declarations evidence LCEC asks for and clarify continuing obligations. Do not edit a policy document or accept an installer’s estimate as an insurance decision.
Verify current fees at submission
The amounts above were checked on September 9, 2026, but a future applicant should open the current form. Keep utility charges separate from installer charges, permit fees and insurance premiums so the complete project budget remains understandable.
Revisit after a design change
Added modules, a different inverter or expanded storage can change application fields or rating. Require the project team to rerun the tier check and update evidence before signing a revised proposal.
Keep proof with the approval
Save the dated form, payment confirmation, insurance evidence and LCEC approval together. A future owner or service provider can then distinguish recurring coverage responsibilities from a one-time application item.
