LCEC’s application asks for battery power in kW, energy capacity in kWh, manufacturer and model in addition to the solar module and inverter records. [1]
Separate power from energy
Battery kW describes how much power the system can deliver under defined conditions; kWh describes stored energy. Copy each from the proposed equipment documentation and label the units. Do not swap them or use a marketing product name as both values.
Identify every component
Record battery model and quantity along with inverter, controller, gateway and transfer or isolation equipment. Ask the designer which device controls export and backup operation. The application summary should be traceable to the one-line and equipment sheets.
Describe operating intent
Tell the project team whether the goal is outage backup, solar self-consumption or another approved mode. The label does not establish utility permission. Ask how the proposed configuration complies with LCEC interconnection requirements and how settings will be documented at handoff.
Coordinate revisions
If the battery brand, quantity or usable configuration changes, update the application and plan set before installation. A “similar capacity” substitute can have different power, certifications and integration. Confirm acceptance with LCEC rather than relying on a dealer comparison.
Build a service-ready handoff
Save model and serial information, app ownership, operating settings, permits, LCEC approval and the one-line. For an orphaned system, these records let a technician understand the installed architecture before proposing diagnostics or replacement work.
