Map the roof planes
Label direction, tilt, module count and major obstructions for every proposed plane. Use safe photos and surveyed dimensions. A drawing without north or distinct plane inputs cannot explain why panels were placed where they are.
Document shade evidence
Record the method and date of any shade study, along with tree or structure assumptions. Do not promise future trimming on property you do not control. Mark seasonal or uncertain conditions for field verification.
Run production by meaningful orientation
PVWatts uses tilt and azimuth as model inputs. [2] When roof planes differ materially, ask whether they were modeled separately and combined. One average direction can hide a weak plane or an input error.
Carry results into billing carefully
Lower production may increase purchased utility energy, but rate-plan demand and household timing remain separate. Ask for a transparent bridge from roof model to imported and exported kWh. Do not turn the roof estimate into a guaranteed monthly cost.
