THE SHORT ANSWER
Lakeland Electric publishes a specific Solar Price Plan for residential customers who produce some of their own energy. A proposal should identify the plan and current tariff assumptions it uses. [1]
Read the current account first
Record the rate-plan name, recent energy use, demand fields and fixed or continuing charges shown on the bill. Do not assume the account remains on a standard residential plan after solar is interconnected.
Request a transparent calculation
Ask the proposal to show imported kWh, exported kWh, any on-peak demand assumption and current utility charges separately. A single “new bill” number makes it impossible to see which part came from solar production and which part came from behavior.
Challenge another utility’s template
A calculator built for FPL, TECO or Duke should not be relabeled for Lakeland. Municipal utility programs and tariffs can differ. Require the source URL and review date for the assumptions used at the service address.
Recheck before commitment
Rates and program terms can change between an early sales conversation and final design. Save a dated bill case, then refresh it if the project scope or utility tariff changes. This is planning evidence, not a guaranteed future bill.
