THE SHORT ANSWER
A home sale changes parties and may change the utility account. Build a handoff that lets the buyer confirm Lakeland’s current requirements instead of inheriting assumptions.
Separate the four relationships
Identify who owns the equipment, who owes any financing or lease obligation, who holds the utility account and who controls monitoring. A deed transfer does not automatically resolve every relationship.
Collect utility evidence
Save the signed parallel-connection agreement, final inspection, meter or activation record, recent Solar Price Plan bills and utility correspondence. Ask Lakeland what the incoming account holder must do; do not promise that every term transfers unchanged.
Prepare the physical system file
DOE recommends keeping system, warranty and installer information. [2] Include equipment models and serials, one-line, roof attachments, service history, monitoring transfer instructions and any unresolved alerts without presenting maintenance records as a warranty.
Coordinate before closing
Give the buyer time to review the equipment obligation, utility process and insurance questions. Use lender, title, legal, tax or insurance professionals for their respective decisions. A solar service review can document observed condition but cannot approve the account transfer.
Before your next conversation
- Identify equipment ownership.
- Save Lakeland approval and bills.
- Transfer monitoring and service records.
- Confirm buyer actions before closing.
