THE SHORT ANSWER
Lakeland’s Solar Price Plan separates monthly energy from the highest on-peak demand. A low imported-kWh total does not prove the demand component should also be low. [1]
Read the bill line by line
Record imported energy, exported energy, demand kW, peak window, energy credit and continuing charges for the same cycle. Compare with the previous month using identical fields rather than only the total due.
Identify the likely event
Review interval data and household activity near the peak when available. HVAC startup, oven, dryer, water heating, pool equipment or EV charging can overlap briefly. Note storms, guests and schedule changes.
Avoid blaming the array automatically
Solar production may reduce grid use during part of the day but cannot guarantee output during a cloudy peak or after sunset. Check monitoring and alerts separately before turning a billing question into a service call.
Build two action paths
Ask Lakeland Electric about demand measurement and billing. Ask a qualified electrical or energy professional about safe scheduling or load management. Preserve both records and test changes across a full billing period instead of promising an immediate result.
Before your next conversation
- Record energy and demand fields.
- Locate the peak event if possible.
- Check solar operation separately.
- Test changes over a complete cycle.
