Audit a Lakeland solar export credit without confusing it with production

Match the exported kWh and bill credit to the same statement while keeping total array generation and household use separate.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Lakeland Electric currently describes exported customer generation as separately metered and credited at the full retail rate. Verify the current bill and tariff for the account. [1]

Start with the exact billing period

Record meter dates, exported kWh, imported kWh, rate-plan name and credit line. Do not compare a calendar-month monitoring total with a utility cycle that starts mid-month. Save the original bill rather than a cropped dollar amount.

Do not call export total production

The home may use solar immediately before excess reaches the meter. The inverter can therefore report more generation than the utility reports as export. That difference can be normal and requires consumption data to interpret.

Check the credit arithmetic

Use the current tariff or utility explanation to understand the credited amount and other charges. Do not assume every bill line offsets one-for-one or that a credit eliminates demand, fixed or unrelated charges. Ask Lakeland Electric about its billing record.

Escalate with a reconciled packet

If the calculation still appears wrong, provide the full bill, meter dates and relevant utility correspondence. For a production concern, separately provide inverter data and alerts to a solar technician. A billing dispute and equipment diagnosis should not be merged.

Before your next conversation

  • Save the complete bill.
  • Align monitoring and meter dates.
  • Separate export from total production.
  • Route billing and equipment questions correctly.
