KUA’s current solar FAQ says it does not offer a rebate or incentive to purchase a PV system, while separately describing its net-metering program for excess generation. [1]
Name every claimed benefit
Ask a proposal to label each rebate, tax item, bill credit or financing assumption with the administering organization and current source. “KUA solar program” is too vague when it could mean a utility audit, interconnection process or export credit rather than purchase money.
Verify the date and eligibility
Programs and tax law can change. Open the cited source and check the property, customer, equipment and completion requirements. An installer logo or spreadsheet line is not proof that funds are reserved. Do not sign based on a benefit the provider cannot identify precisely.
Keep export credits in the bill model
KUA’s tariff treats excess electricity as a bill credit. [2] It belongs in the remaining-utility-bill estimate, not as an upfront discount from the installed price. Model household self-consumption, exports and continuing utility charges separately so the cash price remains visible.
Compare proposals before incentives
Put the equipment, scope, cash price, financed amount and payment terms side by side. Then add only benefits you have independently verified. This prevents an unavailable rebate from making a more expensive proposal look artificially competitive.
Save the source with the decision
Keep a dated copy or link to the KUA page, the tariff used for export assumptions and the final proposal. Ask the provider to revise any outdated incentive language in writing before you rely on the economics.
