SOLAR MAINTENANCE · 2 MIN READ

Create a corrosion inspection plan for coastal Florida solar

Track exposed hardware, enclosures and electrical connections before salt and moisture turn small changes into failures.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Marine exposure can affect metals and enclosures differently. Use the approved system materials and manufacturer guidance to build a documented inspection scope.

Identify exposure zones

Record distance and openness to salt water, prevailing weather, roof runoff, irrigation and equipment locations. Do not assume every component experiences the same environment.

Preserve the material schedule

Keep racking alloy, fastener, clamp, enclosure and bonding-component details. Mixing unapproved metals can create compatibility concerns that appearance alone cannot diagnose.

Inspect without creating hazards

Use qualified providers for rooftop or energized areas. From the ground, document staining, enclosure damage, loose parts or alerts without scraping coatings or opening equipment.

Trend observations

Compare dated photos and service notes at consistent locations. Escalate active damage through the responsible manufacturer, contractor or maintenance provider without inventing warranty coverage. Record whether the condition is cosmetic, active or still undetermined.
