One Enphase panel looks missing: collect evidence before authorizing replacement

A panel-level gap may involve reporting, mapping, wiring, shading or equipment. Build a repeatable record before deciding what failed.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Enphase monitoring can present system health and production over time. A single missing or low device should be compared across dates before it is treated as a failed panel or microinverter. [1]

Capture the array view

Save a screenshot showing the affected position, date range, site name and device status. If the physical array layout and app map appear different, note that explicitly. Do not climb onto the roof to match a panel.

Compare like conditions

Review several clear-day curves and the same device’s neighboring positions. Morning or afternoon shade, debris and roof orientation can create repeatable patterns. A permanent zero, intermittent reporting and reduced production are different symptoms.

Check system events

Record recent internet outages, electrical work, roof work, storms or monitoring-account changes. These events do not prove a cause, but they help a technician choose whether to start with communications, mapping or field testing.

Preserve serial relationships

Ask for the as-built module map and microinverter serial list. If the original installer is gone, compare available records with the app without editing the live map. A replacement decision should identify the actual device, not merely “panel six” in an uncertain drawing.

Request scoped diagnostics

Send the screenshots, dates, site ID, equipment list and known events through the current Enphase homeowner-support path [2] or to the accepted service provider. Ask what remote review and site testing are included, and confirm fees and warranty-claim responsibilities. Do not buy a replacement based only on one app tile.

Before your next conversation

  • Save the device view across multiple dates.
  • Compare neighboring devices and shade timing.
  • Locate the as-built serial map.
  • Confirm diagnostic scope before replacement.
