A substitution should be evaluated across performance, compatibility, contract scope and approvals before installation—not explained only after closeout.
Require a written change table
List the original and proposed manufacturer, model, quantity, ratings, warranty documents and reason for change. Identify any price, schedule or layout effect and the person authorized to approve it.
Check system interactions
Review inverter loading, module electrical characteristics, rapid shutdown, racking, battery compatibility, monitoring and service access. One matching wattage number is not a complete equivalency review.
Update every approval lane
Ask whether the permitting authority or Duke requires amended drawings, schedules or applications. Keep the answer with the change authorization; silence is not proof that revision is unnecessary.
Verify the field result
At closeout, compare installed model labels with the approved schedule and contract change. Photograph accessible nameplates safely and update the homeowner inventory and monitoring record.
