THE SHORT ANSWER
Begin with Duke’s own application or account record, then match it to permits and the installed equipment. Do not infer authorization from panels on the roof.
Gather stable identifiers
Collect the service address, utility account holder, meter number, permit number, installer business name and any Duke reference. Avoid sending passwords or sensitive financing records when they are not relevant.
Ask for the last confirmed milestone
Contact Duke through its current customer-generation channel and ask what it can disclose to the authorized account holder, what remains open and what documentation is needed. Record the date and case reference.
Compare with the jurisdiction
Check permit issuance, inspections and corrections separately. A closed permit does not automatically establish utility authorization, and a utility file does not close a permit item.
Inspect before adopting the file
A qualified provider may need to document equipment, labels, protection, monitoring and observed condition before agreeing to corrective work. New service support is not an automatic assumption of the original contract or warranties.
Before your next conversation
- Collect account and permit identifiers.
- Ask Duke for the last milestone.
- Check local inspection records.
- Document installed condition.
